Regulating doctors, ensuring good medical practice

The review of Good Medical Practice 2012

Picture of compassAs part of our review of Good Medical Practice (GMP), we have been seeking views on a revised draft of the guidance in our public consultation which began on 31 October 2011. The consultation has now closed and we would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to respond.

We also held many meetings across the UK during the consultation period to encourage discussion of the issues and would like to thank everyone who helped organise the meetings and who attended.

Next steps

We will now analyse all the responses to the consultation and the data and information gathered at our meetings and events and report back to our Working Group with the findings. We will prepare feedback on the process when we launch the guidance in Autumn 2012.

The story so far…

The review started with an initial consultation from February to April 2011 where we invited comments on the scope and structure of the guidance and on the issues that we should consider as part of the review. Read more about our initial engagement.

On these pages you can explore the content we have developed each month to generate interest in the review as part of our engagement with doctors, patients, employers and others with an interest in what makes a good doctor.

You can also see the latest press release about the consultation.
