Regulating doctors, ensuring good medical practice
This page is to help doctors who were unsuccessful with their application for entry onto the Specialist Register with a CESR or entry onto the GP Register with a CEGPR and want to apply for a review of our decision.
Your application for a review will be an online application. At the end of this guidance you will be given a link to enter our secure web portal.
You may apply for a review if:
Or
You must submit your application for a review within 90 days of the date on your decision letter.
When we have received your review application and supporting evidence we will make a decision based on the evidence you provide.
We may, if appropriate, send your application to the Royal College or Faculty (opens in a new window) for your specialty and ask them if the additional evidence you have supplied changes their recommendation.
There are three possible outcomes to a review application:
If more than 90 days has passed since we issued your decision letter, you will need to submit a reapplication, rather than apply for a review. To give yourself sufficient time to prepare for a resubmission you may wish to reapply. The fee for a reapplication and a review is the same.
Read the guidance for reapplying for entry onto the Specialist Register with a CESR or CEGPR (opens in a new window)
If you received your decision on or before 22 March 2011 you will need to apply using a hard copy application form. Please contact us and we will email you a copy of the form.
The following guidance is still applicable apart from instructions specific to completing the application in GMC Online.
There is more information about these steps on the following pages of this guidance.
