Regulating doctors, ensuring good medical practice

Notifying us of completion of 12 months practice in an approved practice setting - Page 2 of 4

If you were granted (or restored to) full registration before 3 December 2012, you must work in an APS for the first 12 months of your employment in the UK at the level of a fully registered medical practitioner.

This requirement stops when you have completed 12 months of full time equivalent practice in an APS. We will automatically remove this requirement from your LRMP entry on your first revalidation. However, if you need to remove it before then, you need to notify us by completing an online process.

We define full time practice as being 24 hours or more of clinical work per week. Posts involving less than 24 hours clinical work per week will be assessed individually on a pro rata basis.

At the end of this guidance you will be given a link to enter our secure web portal, GMC Online.
