General Medical Council
Regulating doctors, ensuring good medical practice
Before you log in and start completing your application you will need to begin compiling the evidence in support of your application.
The evidence you provide is crucial to your application. It must demonstrate that your training, qualifications and experience meet the standards of the CCT curriculum.
If your training and qualifications have not covered the full CCT curriculum in general practice (perhaps because you have trained in, or moved to, another country, taken a career break or moved to unapproved posts due to UK employment restrictions) you may be able to show competence in the missing areas of your training through subsequent experience in one of the following: GP registrar, a locum consultant, staff grade or associate specialist post in the NHS, or in a senior consultant post overseas.
For advice on what evidence to provide, you should refer to General Practice specific guidance (pdf). You will not be able to complete your application without this document.
You should also read our important notice about evidence (opens in a new window).
If you have previously had your GP training partially assessed by the Joint Committee for Postgraduate Training in General Practice (JCPTGP) or by the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board (PMETB) on behalf of JCPTGP, then you only need to provide evidence of your training and experience since your partial assessment.
Please give us permission in writing to use your JCPTGP file as part of your new application.
You must submit a complete and accurate translation of every document you provide that is not in English, along with the document in its original language.

A large number of applications are returned because the CV does not match the other evidence supplied or is incomplete. Please make sure you follow our CV guidance.
We recommend that you also send a copy of your CV to each of your referees who may find it helpful when preparing your structured reports.
