CCT date more than six months ago

Applying online

If your completion of training date was more than six months before you apply, it is possible that we do not have a notification from your Royal College or Faculty on our records. This means that you may not be offered the option to make an application for entry onto the Specialist Register or GP Register with a CCT.

If, when you get to the Applications you can make page, you are not offered Entry onto the Specialist Register with a CCT or Entry onto the GP Register with a CCT, please email us at CCT@gmc-uk.org and tell us your GMC reference number, your specialty and your completion of training date.

Please do not make an application for Entry onto the Specialist Register with a CESR or Entry onto the GP Register with a CEGPR as these are not the applications you need.

After you have applied

Because you are applying more than six months after your completion of training date, we need to know what you have been doing since your training finished.

Before we grant your application we will contact you and ask for evidence of your activities in the period since you qualified.
We will ask you to provide the following evidence (originals or validated copies):

  • A confirmation letter (or letters) from your employer detailing the dates, level/grade and specialty of the post(s) occupied from your completion of training date to the date of this application, this includes any grace periods.
  • Evidence to demonstrate clinical continuity (CPD, meeting attendance, research, audit, clinical activity)
  • A brief statement regarding any significant gaps in employment during this period
  • A brief statement explaining the reasons for your delay in applying for your CCT
You are reading the guidance for applying for entry onto the Specialist Register or GP Register with a Certificate of Completion of Training. If this is not the guidance you need, please return to the applications section.
