Requests to change a doctor’s submission date

  1. Background

  2. Bringing a date forward

  3. Moving a date back

1. Background

We will consider a request from a responsible officer to change a doctor’s submission date.

The following information will help you to decide whether you should make such a request and how to do so.

You can only request a change for a doctor if you are their responsible officer (RO).

2. Bringing a date forward

If you want to bring a date forward because your doctor is not engaging in local revalidation processes then please refer to our non-engagement guidance.

For trainee doctors, you can use your GMC Connect account to bring forward the doctor’s revalidation date to allow you to submit a recommendation to revalidate because the doctor is now eligible for CCT. To make sure that the doctor is served notice in accordance with our statutory requirements, the earliest we will set a submission date is 120 days from the date of your request. You can submit a recommendation once we have served notice on the doctor.

3. Moving a date back

You can only submit a recommendation to defer within 120 days of the doctor's submission date.

Please read our criteria for deferral requests.

If a doctor does not have a connection at the time we serve notice, we will contact them about their revalidation.

If you require any further help, you can seek advice from your Employer Liaison Adviser or please do not hesitate to contact us directly.
