List of designated bodies

Below you can find the names of the designated bodies the GMC holds on its list. Only UK organisations can be designated bodies because the legal rules that determine this only cover the UK. We update this list regularly as we are made aware of new or updated bodies. This list was last updated on 5 February 2013.

Designated bodies are listed under their full title as they’re recorded in our database. So if you’re searching for your designated body in GMC Online, use the name, or part of the name, exactly as it appears in this list. Organisations beginning with ‘The’ are not listed under ‘T’ on this page, but by the initial letter of the next word in their name; for example, The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is listed under P.

Organisations whose names begin with ‘NHS’ are listed under ‘N’ - but then alphabetically by the initial letter of the next word in their name. For example, NHS Haringey comes after NHS Hampshire.

Most web browsers will let you search on this page by pressing the ‘Ctrl’ and ‘F’ keys together. You can use this to search for any part of the name of the organisation you’re looking for.
