How to download your file

You can download the files you need from the homepage of the secure portal.

Files are presented in chronological order – if you want the most recent file, select the one at the top. Or if you want an older file, you can identify the date or file type from the filename.

You’ll be asked to open or save the file.

Select ‘Save’ and then choose where you want to save the zip file on your system. Since the file is a compressed in a zip file, you’ll need to unzip the folder on your system to access the csv file within.

Which file should I download?

There are two types of file you can download.

Full files

This is a full data file of the medical register. They contain a record for every doctor on the medical register: more than 290,000 records.

Delta files

These contain data only for doctors whose records have been created or updated in the last 24 hours.

You can identify the type of file by its filename. Eg

  • gmclrmpext.full.20190703.zip is the full file, created on 7 March 2019
  • gmclrmpext.delta.20190803.zip is the delta file, created on 8 March 2019

We keep the last seven days’ of medical register files on the secure portal – we don’t store or offer files older than this.
