Guide to provisional registration during the coronavirus pandemic

If you’re a final year medical student, you can now apply for provisional registration. We’ll process your application earlier than usual, as part of the UK government’s response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. European and international medical graduates with a place on the Foundation Programme must apply for provisional registration too.

This guide tells you about the application process and what happens once we grant your provisional registration. It includes information about starting work or volunteering, and looking after your health and wellbeing. We also signpost to other organisations who can support you.

Who is this guide for?
This guide is for all final year medical students who’ve been invited to apply for provisional registration and European and international medical graduates with a place on the Foundation Programme.
