How do I list my evidence

Evidence of your qualifications

You’ll need to enter the details of any specialist medical qualification(s) and any other relevant qualifications you have gained since your original application. You should submit evidence of the qualifications you list and the curriculum or syllabus you followed.

How do I enter my professional experience?

You’ll need to give full details of all the posts you’ve held since your original application, starting with the most recent and working backwards.

If you’ve worked overseas, please don’t change your overseas post title to match to a UK title – instead, tell us the actual title you held.

Examples of post titles include:

  • SHO
  • Registrar
  • Staff Grade
  • District Medical Officer
  • Clinical Tutor
  • Assistant Professor and Resident.

Please also give details of any periods longer than one month when you weren’t practising medicine. This could include:

  • alternative employment
  • clinical attachments
  • vacation
  • study leave
  • maternity leave
  • career breaks
  • unemployment.

You must also give a brief explanation for each period.

Listing your evidence

In your application you should list the evidence you’re submitting against each recommendation.

You should:

  • list the documents you are submitting to show you meet the recommendation
  • explain how you’ve now met the required standard, and/or
  • explain how you’ve already met the required standard and where you feel a procedural error has occurred.

Important information about your application

The online application system for CESR, CEGPR and Review applications changed on 6 November 2018. We’ve listened to feedback from applicants through a survey and at training events asking to provide evidence electronically, so have introduced this option to make it easier and less burdensome for doctors.

For applications created in GMC online before the application changes on 6 November, any evidence you intend to submit to support your application will need to be provided in hard copy. This is because the functionality can’t be added to applications that are already in progress.

If you would like the option to provide evidence electronically, you’ll need to withdraw your application in GMC online and submit a new application – you can only do this if you are still within your Review application deadline to apply.

If you’re unsure what date your application was created in GMC online, you can contact us to find out.

It’s important you only follow the guidance relevant to you below, depending on when you created your application in GMC online.

Applications started in GMC online before 6 November 2018

To list the evidence you intend to submit, click on the view/edit button for each recommendation and enter the documents you intend to supply in the box provided.

Every time you complete a page you must click save. If you don’t do this, the information you’ve entered won’t be saved, and you’ll have to re-enter it. If you want to change anything, you can go back to the relevant section and edit the information you’ve entered - you must do this before submitting your application. Once it’s been submitted, you won’t be able to go back and change it.

Applications started in GMC online on or after 6 November 2018

We’ve created a step-by-step user guide to help you complete your application. This will confirm how you should complete the application and upload your evidence electronically.

We strongly recommend that you have this userguide open when collating your evidence and completing your online application.
