Combined programme application – CESR CP
This guide is for doctors looking to join the Specialist or GP Registers and have:
- trained in both non-approved and approved training posts, and
- trained on a UK training programme for less than the minimum number of years required under EU legislation for your specialty.
This applies to you if you have either trained in non-approved post(s), or you entered an approved training programme above the first year, and you then completed the rest of the programme, and demonstrated the curricula competencies.
Please note, if you want to take up a consultant post in the NHS (other than as a locum consultant) you must be on our Specialist Register. And if you want to work as a GP in the UK health services (other than in a training post) you must be on our GP Register.
Important information for doctors intending to work as a GP in the UK
To start work as a GP in the UK, you'll need to complete a number of processes. Some of these are handled by organisations other than the GMC.
You must read our General Practice in the UK page for information about applying to join a Performers List and Induction and Returner schemes.
These are extra requirements for you to work as a GP in the UK.
