Assessing the capacity of a young person when they are facing a terminal illness

Background

Andrew is a twelve year old boy who has been diagnosed with cancer for the second time. He asks to speak to his doctor, Dr Simpson without his parents.   

He tells Dr Simpson that he does not want further chemotherapy as it made him feel ill last time and he just wants to enjoy the time he has left. Dr Simpson has to decide what to do.
