Get ready for regulation

In December 2024 we’ll become the regulator of physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs). This guide covers how we’ll regulate PAs and AAs and how you can prepare. We’ll continue to update this information as we get closer to the start date, so do check back for updates.

We’re pleased to be welcoming you into regulation. Regulation will help assure patients, colleagues and employers that you can work safely and be held to account if serious concerns are raised.

We encourage all PAs and AAs currently practising in the UK to join and remain on the voluntary registers held by the Faculty of Physician Associates and Royal College of Anaesthetists, until we contact you with information about your future registration and regulation.
