The outcomes for graduates and the associated lists of practical procedures and related documents were originally published in Tomorrow’s Doctors (2009).
Tomorrow’s Doctors also included standards for the delivery of teaching, learning and assessment which have been replaced by Promoting excellence: standards for medical education and training published in July 2015.

Review of our Outcomes for graduates

What's happening with the review?

Medicine and medical education and training respond continually to changes in the health of the population, to changes in healthcare systems and to developments in the technologies used to diagnose, treat and manage illness.

We first published the outcomes in 2009. We now need to review them to make sure they take account of changes in these areas, over recent years.

What happens next?

As a first step, we asked medical educationalists, postgraduate training organisations, employers, doctors in training, medical students and lay people for feedback on the content and format of the current outcomes. Using this feedback we have produced a revised draft of the outcomes which we consulted on. The consultation closed on 10 January 2018.

We are analysing the consultation responses and expect to publish a new version of the Outcomes in summer 2018.

If you have any questions about the review, please contact us at outcomesforgraduates@gmc-uk.org.
