Specialty recruitment

The recruitment report shows the proportions of Foundation Year 2 (F2) doctors who apply for and those who go on to further specialty or general practice (GP) training in the year immediately following completion of F2. The reports are based on applications taken from the first round of recruitment each year only. The reports allow medical and foundation schools to see the proportions of their graduates who apply to different specialties. They also allow workforce planners to understand the application behaviours of F2s.

These reports were developed with Health Education England, NHS Education for Scotland, Health Education and Improvement Wales and Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency. If you would like further information on the process of speciality recruitment please refer to NHS medical recruitment.

The undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment reports are available in the national training survey online reporting tool on a separate tab.
