A doctor can have sub-specialty training indicated against their name in the Specialist Register along with the main CCT specialty if they can satisfy us that they have satisfactorily completed a sub-specialty training that we've approved.

Updating the list of approved sub-specialties

Currently, we do not recognise new sub-specialties. However, if a sub-specialty that we recognise is no longer needed, the relevant medical royal college or faculty can apply to us and we can remove it from the recognised list.
