How to complete the survey
When is the survey open?
It's open from 22 July until 12 August.
How do you complete the survey?
How long will it take?
It should take less than 10 minutes to complete and the survey is mobile friendly.
If you want to save your progress and complete the survey later, you can use the 'save and continue' option. Smartsurvey will ask you to confirm your email address and then send you a unique link which you can use to return to the survey at a different time. This link is unique to you, so it shouldn't be shared with anyone else.
What will we ask you?
At the start of the survey, we ask a few questions about who you are, your training location and your specialty so we can analyse your responses correctly.
This year, we've shortened the survey in some areas to reduce the amount of time you need to spend completing it. The questions are focused on checking your training is meet our standards and being delivered in environments where patients are safe. We've added a small number of new questions to help us understand how the pandemic has affected your training and wellbeing.
You'll also be asked two questions where you can briefly highlight your biggest concern and summarise any good practice you've experienced. These are designed to capture high level themes and issues, so they're limited to 250 characters. We'll categorise these alongside the multiple-choice responses from the thousands of doctors who are eligible to take part in the survey.
You can find all of the survey questions on the NTS documents page
Is the survey mandatory?
The survey isn't mandatory, but we're keen to hear from as many trainees as possible so we can better support you in the future. Your participation in the survey isn't linked to any future reviews of progression by your postgraduate dean and we won't be issuing completion codes.
