Approved courses that lead to the award of UK PA and AA qualifications and the new course process

We decide which physician associate (PA) and anaesthesia associate (AA) courses are approved in the UK.

We do this by quality assuring each PA or AA programme to ensure that students who qualify are able to meet the shared learning outcomes for PAs and AAs. In some cases an organisation might have more than one PA or AA course and may also have a medical school.

We approve PA and AA courses at programme level which means each course is independently quality assured and approved. We also carry out quality assurance of new courses that lead to the award of a PA or AA qualification.
