Role of a performance assessor
You'll work as part of a team to plan and conduct a fair assessment, and produce a report for us. The report is an important part of the evidence we use when making decisions on a case.
The report is drafted by the team leader, an experienced assessor who has received additional training, but the whole team must discuss and agree the findings and recommendations. Some cases are referred to the . In these cases, you may also be called to give evidence.
We must be consistent, fair, open and transparent in everything we do. This also applies to the assessments we commission. To make sure these standards are upheld, we provide you with regular training, feedback and support.
We also have guidance for you (see next page). This includes a handbook with comprehensive practical guidance on the process and standards that describe what you should know, understand and be able to do when you assess doctors and complete reports for us.
