Paul Buckley

Paul Buckley, Director

Paul joined the GMC in 1996, following a number of years in the civil service. He helped to coordinate the GMC’s evidence to a number of public inquiries including the Shipman Inquiry, the GMC’s work programme thereafter following the White Paper ‘Trust, Assurance and Safety’ published in February 2007 and he  led the GMC’s preparations for the successful merger of PMETB with the GMC, and the development of the GMC Education Strategy 2011-2013. 

He became a Director in 2004 and his responsibilities have included business & strategic planning, development of Revalidation, oversight of medical education and training, and strategic communications and stakeholder engagement. More recently his focus has been on increasing the GMC’s capabilities around data and insight and supporting the development of the policy profession in the GMC. His current priorities also include leading the development of the GMC’s next corporate strategy.

Helen Featherstone, Business Development Director

I have 25 years’ experience in business management and marketing and have significant experience in leading business development in organisations worldwide. 

I have lived and worked in the UK, South Africa, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia working for a wide range of large multinationals including IQVIA, Novartis, Anheuser-Busch Inbev (previously SABMiller) and Philips. I have successfully managed businesses as a Country Director and delivered business-critical projects to senior leaders in global organisations within the broader healthcare environment.

I offer expert advisory services to clients ambitious to improve their healthcare regulatory framework. I have exceptional account management experience and lead my team to navigate complex strategic challenges to find the right solutions tailored to your needs.

Steve Worrall, Head of Business Development

I studied French and German at university and worked in the UK, Morocco and Germany before making a move into management consultancy. My background is in mergers and acquisitions, corporate strategy, business transformation, benefits realisation and business development. I have consulted to the National Health Service in the UK for over 10 years on technology-enabled transformation, including the use of analytics, telehealth and interoperability to achieve sustainable benefits, and I enjoy bringing a fresh pair of eyes, a strategic focus and a hands-on approach to every situation. 

My focus now is to listen to customers’ priorities and challenges, and to support them in achieving their ambitions for the regulatory environment and the wider healthcare landscape in their own countries.
