Regulating doctors, ensuring good medical practice

Help improve training

The national training surveys 2011 are now open. If you are a trainer or trainee doctor, you are required to take part.

The surveys play a crucial role in ensuring that training in the UK produces competent doctors. They also help us ensure that those with a role in medical education and training are being effectively supported in delivering it.

Trainees and trainers are asked a range of questions about how well the needs of doctors in training are being met. The results help tell us how well training is working by deanery, specialty and local education provider so we can identify trends by specialty and at both local and national levels and respond appropriately.

We publish a report each year on our findings and each deanery can access the data we collect on training in their particular location. The 2010 report can be accessed here.

If you are a trainee or trainer, you should by now have received an email invitation to take part. If you have not, you should contact your deanery as soon as possible.

You can find out more about the surveys, including past results, on our national training surveys web pages.
