News: Revalidation in Wales

Wales Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Jewell, addresses delegates at the Cardiff meeting

27 November 2009

Doctors in Wales meet to discuss revalidation.

Over 80 doctors from around Wales and across the profession met in Cardiff last month to hear the latest news on revalidation.

The GMC worked collaboratively with BMA Wales, the Welsh Assembly Government, the Postgraduate Deanery and the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges to host the one-day conference on 21 October.

Doctors heard presentations from organisations delivering revalidation and the afternoon session, chaired by Dr Tony Jewell, the Chief Medical Officer for Wales, featured a lively question and answer session with GMC Chair, Professor Peter Rubin, and an expert panel.

The initiative is part of the GMC’s work aimed at improving our understanding of doctors’ views on important policy areas such as revalidation.
