News: Licensing date announced

From 16 November 2009, all doctors will need a licence to practise in the UK.

From 16 November 2009, all doctors will need a licence in order to practise medicine in the UK.

Announcing the licence’s introduction date, GMC Chair Professor Peter Rubin said: ‘We have received a good response to the licensing campaign, having asked 225,000 doctors
whether they want a licence to practise. So far, over 60% of doctors have responded.’

Doctors who have yet to respond are encouraged to do so now.
