News: UKRPB - first meeting
25 March 2009
The newly formed UK Revalidation Programme Board has met for the first time.
Overseeing the delivery of medical revalidation across the UK, the newly formed UK Revalidation Programme Board met for the first time in February to set a robust programme for implementation.
At its first meeting, the Board agreed that the delivery of revalidation should ‘enhance and develop local systems of appraisal and clinical governance across all sectors and settings’ while avoiding becoming a bureaucratic burden for doctors.
Sir Michael Pitt, Chairman of the Board, told GMCtoday: ‘It is essential that the approach to implementation commands the support and confidence of all key healthcare stakeholders and this meeting was a significant step in this process.’
The Board will meet every two months and is accountable to the GMC’s governing body. Copies of the agendas, papers and minutes will be available on the GMC website.
