Regulating doctors, ensuring good medical practice

GMC seeks help to pilot assessment tools

Web News

04 Feb 2011

Call for Foundation Year 2 doctors to volunteer to help the GMC's pilot assessment work.

There have been assessment procedures for investigating poorly performing doctors since 1997. The Academic Centre for Medical Education at UCL works with the GMC to keep the tests used in assessment up to date and fit for purpose.

To help us, we are looking for fully registered doctors to take a written test and a 12 station OSCE. To be eligible, you must be FY2-Consultant level, and have worked in the specialty for a minimum of 4 months within the last year. Volunteers can only take this test once for each specialty.

All volunteers will receive feedback about their own performance.
This is a valuable insight into methods of assessment for anyone interested in this area and excellent examination practice for those about to do postgraduate exams.

Participants will receive an honorarium of £350 plus (standard class) travel expenses and lunch.
