General Medical Council
Regulating doctors, ensuring good medical practice
02 Aug 2010
We have three vacancies on the Board due to current members' terms of office coming to an end.
The PLAB Test, the main route to registration for international medical graduates, comprises Part 1 (question paper) and Part 2 (OSCE). There is a Panel for each Part, responsible for ensuring that each exam is of the appropriate standard and for recommending developments.
The panels report to the Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (‘the Board’). The Board is responsible for developing and reviewing methods of assessing, to the appropriate standard, the knowledge and skills determined by the Registration Reference Group under section 23(2) of the Medical Act 1983; to conduct tests in accordance with these methods; and to oversee the development of each examination.
We have three vacancies on the Board due to current members’ terms of office coming to an end:
Applicants should be practising clinicians, with knowledge and understanding of assessment methods, and of the duties and responsibilities of a doctor successfully completing FY1, and experience of running OSCEs and, with the exception of the first vacancy, at the level of Consultant or GP Principal, or of equivalent academic status. Applicants are required to hold a licence to practise.
The closing date for completed applications is Monday 6 September 2010.
