News about the GMC's attendance at the main political party conferences in September.

Effective healthcare regulation is essential for patient safety, high quality care and professional and public confidence. It is constantly evolving the meet the demands of patients and service users, the public, the professions and politicians.

At this year’s main political party conferences the General Medical Council (GMC), Health Professions Council (HPC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), who together regulate over a million healthcare professionals, and the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the new adult health and social care regulator, will discuss their visions for the future of regulation. Joining them will be the Liberal Democrat and Conservative shadow health spokespeople and the Chair of the Commons Health Select Committee. The meetings will be chaired by Niall Dickson, Chief Executive of The King’s Fund.
