GMC statement in response to Christian Legal Centre's position on Dr Richard Scott hearing

Niall Dickson, Chief Executive of the General Medical Council, said:

'We find ourselves in a difficult position here. In the interest of fairness to all parties we do not comment on the details of ongoing cases. 

‘We believe that premature comment can cause distress to those involved and can be unhelpful. All aspects of our hearings are heard in public unless we need to hear some evidence in private to protect a vulnerable witness or we are dealing with details about a doctors own health.'
