We've produced some frequently asked questions about the new MPTS, due to launch next month.

From the 11 June 2012, the GMC will launch a new tribunal service for UK doctors: the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS).

The MPTS is part of the General Medical Council, but it is operationally separate and it is accountable to Parliament.

The MPTS will run all fitness to practise panel and interim orders panel hearings for the medical profession in the UK.

This will include management of all panellists.   For more about the MPTS, including why it was set up, where hearings will be held and more, see the MPTS site.
