Regulating doctors, ensuring good medical practice

GMC response to report: 'PiP Breast implants and regulation of cosmetic interventions'

GMC Statement

28 Mar 2012

Responding to the publication the Health Select Committee’s report ‘PiP Breast implants and regulation of cosmetic interventions’, Niall Dickson, the Chief Executive of the GMC said:

“The Committee’s findings raise serious issues. In this area of practise, as with every other, doctors must follow our guidance and at all times put their patients first.

We have already written to Sir Bruce Keogh offering our help with his review and we will study this report carefully. Our sympathies are with the large number of women who have been affected."
