We also publish guidance on issues such as reporting gunshot and knife wounds, raising and acting on concerns about patient safety, and obtaining consent to treatment from children. You can read all our standards and ethics guidance for doctors on the publications page for doctors.
Continuing professional development
This guidance explains what we expect doctors to do to keep their knowledge and skills up to date throughout their working life through continuing professional development. It aims to help doctors as they reflect on their practice and prepare for their annual appraisal and revalidation.

National training surveys
The national training surveys are a core part of the work that we carry out each year to monitor the quality of medical education and training in the UK.

The Trainee Doctor
We set the standards for medical education and training that doctors should receive during foundation and specialty including GP training. The Trainee Doctor sets out these standards for all providers of foundation and specialty training and for deaneries.
