Welcome to GMC Student News
For those of you who have just started receiving GMC Student News, thank you for coming to meet us at your freshers’ fair. The fairs have become such popular events at the GMC that 48 staff volunteered to go to the 32 fairs across the UK this year, travelling more than 4,000 miles and signing up 5,000 medical students to receive this bimonthly e-bulletin.
Whatever stage you are at in your medical education, this e-bulletin will help you keep up to date with our work and the latest learning materials. It covers a wide range of topical issues – such as how you can use social media in your studies, what’s expected of doctors in their lives outside work, and whether it’s ok for your personal beliefs to influence the way you treat patients – with views from students and advice from doctors who are eminent in their field.
If you’d like to know more about what the GMC does, how we can help you, and how we differ from the BMA and medical defence organisations, take a look at our Q&A from an earlier issue of GMC Student News.
If any if your friends missed out on signing up, it’s not too late – they can sign up at student news signup.
