Transitional edition of The New Doctor

The Education Committee published the transitional edition of The New Doctor in 2005 (560kb, pdf iconpdf).

Those who entered training prior to 1 August 2007, were required to complete 12 months in an approved post, and at least three months in medicine and three months in surgery before being awarded full registration.

In addition, those who entered training between 1 August 2005 and August 2007 were advised to be aware that the Deanery may require them to meet the outcomes set in the transitional edition of The New Doctor.

The Education Committee has agreed to transitional arrangements for provisionally registered doctors who entered training before, but have not completed training by, 1 August 2007 to enable them to complete their training, and be fully registered under the provisions in place when they commenced their programme.

These transitional provisions expire after two years.
