Which years does the Foundation Programme cover?
It covers the next stage after medical students graduate from medical school. This includes the first year of provisionally registered practice, F1 and the first year of practice with full registration, F2.
How are admissions handled?

Who sets the standards for Foundation training?
The GMC is responsible for setting the standards and quality assuring the first year up to the grant of full registration with a licence to practise.
PMETB (www.pmetb.org.uk) (external website) is responsible for setting the standards and quality assuring the second year of training.
The GMC and PMETB run a joint method to quality assure Foundation Training, the Quality Assurance of the Foundation Programme (QAFP) process.
