Review of the Future Regulation of Medical Education and Training
To help realise the benefits of merger of PMETB with the GMC, Lord Naren Patel was invited to lead a review of the current arrangements for the regulation of medical education and training, and make recommendations that would inform future policy developments by the GMC. Lord Patel was supported in carrying out the review by an advisory group which included members of the GMC's Education and Training Reference Group and members of PMETB.
The preliminary conclusions of the review were set out in a draft report which was consulted on from 12 January to 9 March 2010. The consultation has now closed and you can read the final report here: Recommendations and Options for the Future Regulation of Education and Training (156kb, pdf).

GMC Glossary for the Regulation of Medical Education and Training
The Glossary for the Regulation of Medical Education and Training (pdf) covers the continuum of medical education and training, from entry to medical school to the completion of postgraduate training, from the regulator’s perspective.
It is not intended to provide a comprehensive list of technical terms but to support consistency in the GMC’s use of terms and to assist individuals new to the field.
Sharing good practice
The GMC shares information by publishing reports, through peer networks, by setting up practical workshops and through the Education Inter-Regulatory Group and its log of initiatives and arrangements.
