Regulating doctors, ensuring good medical practice

Evidence: Reports, surveys and other data

The GMC has created an evidence base for our quality assurance which is used to identify areas of greatest regulatory risk so that we can prioritise our resources and activity accordingly.

Evidence is drawn from the reports submitted to the GMC by medical schools, deaneries, and Medical Royal Colleges and Faculties, annual national training surveys, visits and checks and checks and other responses to concerns.

Information that is relevant to other elements of the Quality Improvement Framework will be shared with those undertaking quality assurance activity on behalf of the GMC. We will also place greater emphasis on benchmarking and sharing information with our partners to support more effective quality management and quality control.
