The GMC is now seeking views on issues relating to national professional examinations for specialist and GP training.

The regulation of national professional exams and their contribution to the award of a CCT is a complex area.

We are now seeking views on three specific issues relating to the national postgraduate examinations:

  • Currency - how long should an exam pass be valid for?
  • Timing - how long should a doctor be able to wait between passing an exam and entering or re-entering training?
  • Number of attempts - should there be a limit on the number of times a doctor may attempt an exam?

The consultation will run until 31 March 2011.

Find out more and submit your views on the GMC consultations website or read the press release.
