General Medical Council
Regulating doctors, ensuring good medical practice
04 Oct 2010
The GMC is to hold an education conference to help shape plans to support world-leading medical education and training for all UK doctors.
The challenges and choices ahead for medical education will be the subject of a keynote speech by Professor John Collins at the GMC's first UK conference since the organisation assumed responsibility for regulating all stages of medical training. The world-renowned surgeon and expert in medical education has recently undertaken a major review of the Foundation Programme in England, the findings of which will be published later this year.
Around 250 medical students, doctors in training, trainers and representatives from medical schools, medical Royal Colleges and NHS organisations are expected to attend the event on Tuesday 12 October.
The GMC is hoping that many more will also take part through its web-streaming facility, which will allow users to join in the debates and put questions to the speakers.
