The GMC has published a research report identifying best practice in the selection of medical students.

We commissioned a consortium led by the University of Aberdeen to examine the available evidence on:

  • the effectiveness of different methods used by medical schools to select students
  • the effectiveness of widening access initiatives used by medical schools to promote fair access.

The GMC will use the findings of this report to inform discussion and further work with the Medical Schools Council and others later this year.
