Regulating doctors, ensuring good medical practice

Quality Scrutiny Group

The outputs of our quality assurance (QA) work through the four elements of the Quality Improvement Framework will be extensive, and will require coordinated scrutiny by a panel of experts. The Quality Scrutiny Group (QSG) is convened quarterly to provide consistent scrutiny of our activity, to identify trends and patterns, and to make recommendations to the GMC’s Undergraduate and Postgraduate Boards regarding approval decisions and policy issues.

This group has been recruited from our pool of GMC Associates, and include medical, lay, and trainee/student members, with a cross section of expertise. They will consider specific items such as visit reports, annual reports and action plans, curriculum and assessment system approval documentation, and survey results, but will offer overarching views on QA across the continuum of medical education and training.
