New fee for quarterly and monthly instalment payments of the annual retention fee

From 1 July 2016, we will introduce a small charge for paying the annual retention fee (ARF) by monthly or quarterly instalments.

We announced this new fee – and a new fee for credit card transactions - in October 2015. Please see our web news story for more information.

An annual charge of £8 for paying the ARF by monthly and quarterly instalments will be applied, for doctors with a renewal date on or after 31 July 2016. This charge will be divided across the instalment payments. Like now, we won’t apply this charge to doctors who pay their full fee in a single transaction (by direct debit or using a debit card).
