Applying for Restoration to the Register – for doctors who applied to relinquish their registration and were granted voluntary erasure
This page is to help doctors who:
- Have previously held registration with the GMC
- Relinquished their previous registration by applying for voluntary erasure
AND
- Want to apply to restore their registration after:
- A period spent outside medical practice (for example after retiring from medical practice)
OR
- A period spent working outside the UK.

Your application will be an online application. At the end of this guidance you will be given a link to enter our secure web portal which is called MyGMC.
If you do not have a PIN and password for MyGMC, you should contact us

Your steps to restoration
- Read this guidance (10 pages)
- Log in to MyGMC, complete your application and pay your fee (you will need your GMC reference number, PIN and password to do this)
- Send copies of your supporting documentary evidence by post
- Visit one of our offices for an identity check
