Registering as a doctor – for nationals from the EEA, Switzerland and other doctors with EC rights, who hold an acceptable primary medical qualification from a medical school outside the EEA or Switzerland

This page is to help doctors who:

  • Have qualified at a medical school outside of an EEA country or Switzerland,
  • Are a national of a member state of the EEA or Switzerland or a doctor with European Community rights (33kb,pdf icon pdf)

AND

  • Hold an acceptable primary medical qualification
  • Have NOT completed an internship.

Please be aware that, under this route, there is no automatic right to registration. Registration is at the discretion of the GMC.

Your application will be an online application. At the end of this guidance you will be given a link to enter our secure web portal which is called MyGMC.

Your steps to registration

  • Read this guidance (12 pages)
  • Set up a MyGMC account
  • Log in to MyGMC, complete your application and pay your fee
  • Send copies of your supporting documentary evidence by post
  • Visit one of our offices for an identity check
