Regulating doctors, ensuring good medical practice

After our decision on your application

This section is to help doctors who have received a decision from us on their application for registration, or specialist or GP certification.

Successful applicants

Your status on the Register will have been updated when your application was granted.

You can check your status on the online Register.

If you do not hold registration and have been issued a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) or a Certificate of Eligibility for GP Registration (CEGPR), you should now make your application for full registration with a licence to practise and entry onto the Specialist Register or the GP Register.

For more information, please see our registration applications section.

Unsuccessful registration applicants

If you have received a notice of refusal on your application for registration and would like to make an appeal, please see our information on registration appeals for more details.

Unsuccessful certification applicants

Top up training

Most unsuccessful CESR and CEGPR applicants receive an evaluation form that includes details of what evidence is missing or the top-up training they need to complete, along with the fields it must cover, the assessments that need to be undertaken and the recommended duration.

For more information read our guidance on top up training.

Reviews, reapplications and appeals

Unsuccessful applicants may wish to apply for a review of our decision, reapply at a later date, or appeal our decision.
