Revalidation consultation: the way ahead
Our consultation on revalidation closed on Friday 4 June 2010.
We received several hundred responses to our consultation from doctors, employers and patients, and we would like to thank everyone who took the time to review our proposals for how revalidation will work in practice.
The feedback that we received will be reviewed and analysed carefully over the next few months, and will be used to inform the development of our plans for revalidation and its introduction across the UK. We expect to report the findings of our consultation to the GMC's Council in the autumn.

About the consultation
Our consultation on revalidation, called Revalidation: the way ahead, ran from Monday 1 March to Friday 4 June 2010, and outlined the GMC's proposals for how revalidation could work in practice.
Revalidation is a new process that will assure patients and the public, employers and other healthcare practitioners that licensed doctors are up to date and fit to practise.
Our consultation sought the views and comments of individual doctors, patients and the public, other healthcare professionals (such as nurses), and organisations that employ or contract the services of doctors.
