The Panel has considered the case of Dr Jones and has determined to impose an order of conditions on his registration for a period of 18 months (until 21 March 2010).  The conditions are as follows:

  1. He must notify the GMC promptly of any professional appointment he accepts for which registration with the GMC is required and provide the contact details of his employer.
  2. He must allow the GMC to exchange information with his employer or any organisation for which he provides medical services.
  3. He must inform the GMC of any formal disciplinary proceedings taken against him, from the date of this determination.
  4. He must inform the GMC if he applies for medical employment outside the UK.
    1. He must confine his medical practice to general practice locum posts in the following named two practices only; The Village Surgery in Weston-super-Mare and Hillcrest Surgery in Bath, under the supervision of a named GP Principal in each practice.
    2. He must seek reports from his supervisors for consideration by this Panel, prior to any review hearing of this Panel.
  5. He must not undertake any private practice.
  6. He must not undertake any out of hours work.
  7. He must seek a report from the persons advising the GMC in relation to his fitness to practise, for consideration by this Panel, prior to any review hearing of this Panel.
  8. He must keep his professional commitments under review and limit his medical practice in accordance with the recommendations of the person(s) advising the GMC in relation to his fitness to practise.
  9. He must cease work immediately if the person(s) advising the GMC in relation to his fitness to practise recommend that he does so.
  10. He must inform the following parties that his registration is subject to the conditions, listed at (1) to (10), above:
    • Any organisation or person employing or contracting with him to undertake medical work;
    • Any locum agency or out-of-hours service he is registered with or applies to be registered with (at the time of application);
    • Any prospective employer (at the time of application);
    • The PCT on whose Medical Performers List he is included, or seeking inclusion, (at the time of application).

The Panel has reviewed the order of suspension made on 2 July 2008 and determined that it should be replaced by an order of conditions for the remainder of the duration of the order (until 1 January 2010).  The conditions are as follows:

  1. She must notify the GMC promptly of any professional appointment she accepts for which registration with the GMC is required and provide the contact details of her employer.
  2. She must allow the GMC to exchange information with her employer or any organisation for which she provides medical services.
  3. She must inform the GMC of any formal disciplinary proceedings taken against her, from the date of this determination.
  4. She must inform the GMC if she applies for medical employment outside the UK.
    1. She must confine her medical practice to NHS training posts in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, under the supervision of a named consultant(s).
    2. She must seek a report from her supervisor for consideration by this Panel, prior to any review hearing of this Panel.
  5. She must seek a report from the persons advising the GMC in relation to her fitness to practise, for consideration by this Panel, prior to any review hearing of this Panel.
