The Panel determined to maintain the order of conditions imposed on Dr Sparkes’ registration (currently due to expire on 13 April 2009). The conditions are as follows:

1. He must notify the GMC promptly of any professional appointment he accepts for which registration with the GMC is required and provide the contact details of his employer.
2. He must allow the GMC to exchange information with his employer or any organisation for which he provides medical services.
3. He must inform the GMC of any formal disciplinary proceedings taken against him, from the date of this determination.
4. He must inform the GMC if he applies for employment outside the UK.
5. 1. He must confine his medical practice, including out-of-hours and on-call duties, to a Deanery training post or Trust post at F2/SHO level.  His work must be supervised by one or more consultants, which must include a named medical practitioner of consultant grade.
   2. He must seek a report from his named supervisor for consideration by this Panel, prior to any review hearing of this Panel.
6. His prescribing must be monitored by his supervisor, of consultant grade, at a level felt by his supervisor to be appropriate at F2/SHO level, and a report provided to this Panel by his named supervising consultant on his prescribing practice.
7. He must not undertake any private work and must not undertake locum posts of less than six weeks’ duration.
8. He must consult his Postgraduate Dean or his/her nominee regarding his professional development.  Any agreed personal development plan should be submitted at any review of his case by the Panel.
9. He must inform the following parties that his registration is subject to the   conditions, listed at 1 to 8 above.
   • Any organisation or person employing or contracting with him to undertake medical work.
   • Any prospective employer (at the time of application).
