The Panel determined that the order of conditions imposed on Dr Kaltsas’ registration should be maintained for the remainder of the duration of the order (until 3 March 2009). The conditions are as follows:

  1. He must notify the GMC promptly of any professional appointment he accepts for which registration with the GMC is required and provide the contact details of his employer. 
  2. He must allow the GMC to exchange information with his employer or any organisation for which he provides medical services.
  3. He must inform the GMC of any formal disciplinary proceedings taken against him, from the date of this determination.
  4. He must inform the GMC if he applies for medical employment outside the UK.
  5. He must confine his clinical practice only to:
    1. assessing and reporting on patients for medico legal and insurance purposes;
    2. minor orthopaedic surgery carried out under local anaesthetic.
  6. He must inform the following parties that his registration is subject to the conditions, listed at (1) to (5), above:
    1. Any organisation or person employing or contracting with him to undertake medical work.
    2. Any prospective employer (at the time of application).

  5. He must inform the GMC if he applies for medical employment outside the UK.
  6. He must inform the following parties that his registration is subject to the conditions, listed at (1) to (5), above:
    • Any organisation or person employing or contracting with him to undertake medical work.
    • Any locum agency or out-of-hours service he is registered with or applies to be registered with (at the time of application).
    • Any prospective employer or contractor (at the time of application).
    • His Regional Director of Public Health.

The Panel further notified the Registrar of the GMC that an application should be made to the High Court for an extension of the interim order under section 41A (6) of the Medical Act 1983, as amended.
