The Panel reviewed the order of conditions made on
7 June 2007and determined to vary the conditions for the duration of the remainder of the order (until
6 December 2008) as follows:
- He must comply fully with the GMC with regard to any investigation into his fitness to practise.
- He must notify the GMC, in writing, prior to accepting, any professional appointment for which registration with the GMC is required and provide the contact details of his employer.
- He must allow the GMC to exchange information with his employer or any organisation for which he provides medical services.
- He must inform the GMC of any formal disciplinary proceedings taken against him, from the date of this determination.
- He must inform the GMC of any current medical employer and if he applies for medical employment outside the UK.

- He must confine his medical practice to hospital posts either in the NHS or in a private hospital, where his surgical practice will be supervised by a named medical practitioner of
Consultant grade.
- He must restrict his practice to primary hip and knee replacements and knee arthroscopies.
- He must seek a report from any supervising Consultant for consideration by the IOP, which must be submitted, in writing, at least 14 days prior to any review hearing.
- He must undertake a basic surgical skills course recognised by one of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons.
- He must inform the following parties that his registration is subject to the conditions, listed at (1) to (8), above:
- Any organisation or person employing or contracting with him to undertake medical work,
- Any locum agency or out-of-hours service he is registered with or applies to be registered with (at the time of application),
- Any prospective employer (at the time of application).
The Panel further directed the Registrar of the GMC that an application should be made to the High Court for an extension of the interim order under Section
41A (6) of the Medical Act 1983, as amended. |

He must confine his medical practice to posts in general surgery in the National Health Service at, or up to, middle grade level (such as staff grade/registrar posts), where his work will be supervised by a named Consultant.
- He must seek a report from his supervisor for consideration by this Panel, prior to any review hearing of this Panel.

He must not undertake any locum posts of less than 1 month duration.
- He must seek a report at the conclusion of any such post for consideration by this Panel, prior to the next review of the order.
- He must seek the advice of his Postgraduate Dean (or their nominated deputy), in relation to improving his communication and interpersonal skills, and further guidance in relation to refreshing his clinical and surgical skills and submit evidence of progress under this heading, in writing, to the GMC at least 14 days prior to the next review hearing.
- He must inform the following parties that his registration is subject to the conditions, listed at (1) to (7), above:
- Any organisation or person employing or contracting with him to undertake medical work
- Any locum agency he is registered with or applies to be registered with (at the time of application)
- Any prospective employer (at the time of application).

16 April 2008 and determined that it should be maintained for the remainder of the duration of the order (until 13 November 2008). The conditions are as follows:
- He must notify the GMC promptly of any professional appointment he accepts for which registration with the GMC is required and provide the contact details of his employer;
- He must allow the GMC to exchange information with his employer or any organisation for which he provides medical services;
- He must inform the GMC of any formal disciplinary proceedings taken against him, from the date of this determination;
- He must inform the GMC if he applies for medical employment outside the UK
- He must confine his medical practice to National Health Service posts, at a grade below that of consultant, where his work, including his prescribing practice and correspondence, will be supervised by a Consultant named to the GMC;
- Prior to undertaking any work for which registration is required he must inform the GMC of the name of his employer and of his supervising Consultant
- At least 14 days prior to any review he must submit a report, in writing, from his supervising Consultant(s) for consideration by this Panel. Such a report to include details of the type of work undertaken, his competence and any concerns regarding his clinical and prescribing practice;
- He must not undertake any locum posts of less than 3 months duration;
- He must not undertake any out-of-hours work or on-call duties;
- He must inform the following parties that his registration is subject to the conditions, listed at 1 to 9 above:
- any organisation or person employing or contracting with him to undertake medical work;
- any locum agency or out-of-hours service he is registered with or applies to be registered with (at the time of application);
- any prospective employer (at the time of application).
