Fitness to Practise consultation
The standard of proof
Welcome to the General Medical Council’s consultation on a proposed addition to the Fitness to Practise Rules 2004. The addition introduces the civil standard of proof at Fitness to Practise panel hearings, where the panel is making a decision on disputed facts.
We are committed to a process of open and inclusive consultation before we make changes to our rules or guidance. This involves listening to views from all those the guidance may affect.
This consultation is now closed. We will be reporting to Council later in the year. The report to Council will be published on the website. If you require any further information please contact Michael Cotton, Policy and Planning Manager - Fitness to Practise, The General Medical Council, 350 Euston Road, London, NW1 3JN.
The consultation ran from August 2007 to 31 October 2007
